Institutional Strengthening of the Nature Conservation Sector and
National Biodiversity Department for Monitoring and
Assessing of Biodiversity and Natural Heritage (BioMAP)

This project will provide assistance for three years to the Nature Conservation Sector and the Biodiversity Department of the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA), Ministry of State for Environmental Affairs (MSEA) for planning and implementing nature conservation activities on a sustainable basis.
The primary strategy is to focus on the expanding the monitoring and assessment capabilities of the Biodiversity Department and on strengthening MSEA/EEAAs capacity for analyzing and developing biodiversity policy within the Nature Conservation Sector.
These actions will ultimately contribute to the preservation and protection of wild life resources in protected areas, as well as other natural resources all over Egypt constituting Egypts biodiversity assets.
The project will facilitate EEAA staff efforts to assess and monitor biodiversity through capacity building in the key areas of planning, environmental impact assessment, licensing of economic activities and monitoring and evaluating their impacts within the National Protected Areas and other natural biodiversity significant areas in Egypt.
